I might take a stab at those poems. I have a writing folder with a subfolder dedicated to all the poems I've written, which include lots of different types. One of my favorites has a special structure and rhyme scheme whose name I can't recall. Starts with a 'v' I think.

I can't wait to see what you come up with, Garrett. Bear in mind that you have some structural license here, as we should have adequate bytes for modest expansion. The nuts and bolts of the saga are here, but my draft follows the Japanese syntax by stanza. So, we can alter the order, just not the substance. The only V word that comes to mind is versification, but that definition encompasses all models. In English, our usual model is accentual-syllabic versification, but again, that term is broad. Getting down to my basic objective, realizing we should probably use quatrains, I was shooting for a rhyme scheme of ABAB, but my present draft is, I guess, XBYB. With our video game screen structure, terza rima is feasible, but the rhyme scheme may become muddled because stanzas wouldn't be concatenated in visual reference.

Ah, I found this one:

villanelle: A poem that contains five three-line stanzas and a final four-line stanza. Only two rhyme sounds are permitted in the entire poem, and the first and third lines of the first stanza are repeated, alternately, as the third line of subsequent three-line stanzas; the last stanza ends with these two lines. Like the sestina, the villanelle is a circular form; its movement recalls a dance, and indeed it was originally derived from an Italian folk song. For a loose example, see Rita Dove, "Parsley: 1. The Cane Fields" (1983); for a stricter example, see Dylan Thomas, "Do Not Go Gentle into That Good Night" [1952]).

Heh, summon the Villanelle Dancing Girls to the castle, and we're all set!

I tried to keep them all no more than 5 letters myself - it has qquite strict limits on the battle screen. In brackets, there are those letters which can be actually omitted to have five letters in the name.

PS: As for the diaologue text - ot would be easier for me to work with the whole dialogue, inserting and checking it on the fly to avoid contextual errors. Because, as I see, the script here is at least twice as long as in the first game.

The mercs were a big one to get plugged in. We appreciate it!

Okay, Aishsha, I've been thinking about what you said. Makes sense to translate within the added context of aural and visual backgrounds. Generally speaking, we plug in an initial load of a partial or complete translation by someone who has not played through each scene concurrently. Then, we format and do initial re-writes. On the second re-write, we start our game play in earnest. That's when we really begin the process of disambiguation, using spot re-translations where indicated. Of course, we craft a slightly unique approach to each game, but your way or our way, we all wind up in the same place, eventually.

I wanted to share with you a little of the backdrop regarding Silva Saga-II and D-D's involvement. Bongo` and the team have been discussing the completion of SS-II for some time now. We have three basic reasons for doing so.

(1) Bongo` had performed significant SS-II work in the past. (2) As with other games we've done or are doing, Akujin had translated approximately half of SS-II already, and we didn't want to see his work go to waste. (3) The team has performed a significant amount of SS-II work over the past several months. Within a few more months we could be very close to beta.

That's when I learned about your work and efforts. It makes perfect sense. You love the series and have already released an English patch for the prequel and have plans to do even more Minelvaton-related translations. Out of respect for that, I felt it was appropriate to ask some questions, coordinate a bit more precisely, and have a clear understanding of everyone's feelings on the matter and what we all prefer to do.

Did I understand correctly that you intend to release an English patch with your own reading, or were you considering doing one together? Either way is fine, and if you're inclined toward the former option, I figure we can still help each other in the process and enjoy good relations throughout.

If you do prefer a separate patch, would it bother you who released first? If not, we will go ahead with our schedule. But if it does, please let us know now. I will also tell you that once we worked with Naruto Translations to produce Ranma 1/2 - The Red Cat Gang. Pelrun and we used the same system, the same translator, worked at the same pace, helped each other with interpretations and debugging, passed information back and forth, and released on the very same day.

I feel the main thing is that all of us have nothing but positive memories through the years after we complete this project and move on. I thought if we discussed these considerations now and had a clear understanding from the beginning, this would be good for everyone.

So, give it some thought, then feel free to speak your mind. Meanwhile...

Here is a short "spot" for the "Party" characters. Maybe all of them are new, but I want to try to be thorough in the approach we're taking. I don't know why the bottom one's are on this list. I can't imagine them "joining".

I don't really care about the release date as I hate rushing and I don't care about the dates or sth like fame at all :) The only reason for me to release my own patch afterwards could be in the case, if the final text is too far from the original story, but I believe that won't be the case. As for my wish to work with the whole script and on the fly - I wanna draw all necessary parallels with the game's predecessors and check if the setting and (no matter how pompous it may sound) the "spirit" of the series is kept in place :)

Appreciate the name work. I figured some names might carry over, as I noticed a Wizard who traveled with Kyral had his spells sealed by Zolde and needed a "Purification" Mirror from the Blacksmith.

We'll proceed with production, then. If you aren't in a position to help us with the remaining 50 files, we'll continue with our own devices, including advertising for outside assistance. Either way, we'll invite you right now to be our technical adviser once we get a V0.99 alpha or beta in the can. Keeping the full spirit of the series is one of our paramount objectives, as filler and I tried to do in Slayers. No one is a greater Silva Saga series expert (English-speaking) than you! I can assure you that your inputs and recommendations regarding needed changes and adjustments in our beta would be implemented fully. We want a player who enjoyed your prequel patch to finish this game and say, "Wow, those games meshed together pretty well!"

Okay, this next list is a monster... literally, if you have time at the moment. If some of the beasties are carrying over also, they should certainly match, neh?
