I... um... stumbled upon a game breaking glitch. Now my save is corrupted. That's always fun.... So, this is what I did. Selected Killa's Throw skill. A list of throwable items is shown. If you press up, it shows what's in right and left hands... but it wasn't Killa's equipment. Instead I see nothing in the left hand, and Fancy Staff in the right hand. McGee was in the last party slot, so that's where the data came from. I thought that was weird, so I cancelled. Now I'm looking at the normal item screen, with Godly Treats and all that. That's a lot of stuff to throw! I decided to see what would happen if I grabbed McGee's Fancy Staff and hurl it at my foe. Apparently, that's how you break the universe. After all hell broke loose, I reset the game. My only two files were gone, but the empty third space had a save. It was a gibberish mess of numbers, letters, and symbols. So yeah... do NOT throw anything that isn't yours....
Like the walls gust in the Wind Tower... I say, "WHOOOSH...!"
Awright... Must take a road trip today, but this evening I will be attempting to replicate this. I'll clone my master directory, network it to a laptop, plug in a USB Buffalo game pad, and try to blow it up. If I do, I'll simply erase the bad SRM and bring over the good one from the master to start troubleshooting. Another way is to copy the master directory, name it something else, and put the word "test" in the second directory's name. This way you can corrupt the test copy all day long and never touch the master.
A third way is to backup your good SRM by copying and naming it something else that queues you as to where you were at that point. I usually include the level # and the place or boss name. I'm glad you're pushing the limits. I know we have some loose flakes of something in the menu system. The "ghost" problem with Poyon's skills is a small indicator of that.
The ultimate test is to import the English SRM into a folder containing just the Japanese ROM and try the same sequence that corrupted your world. I don't know... Anytime someone introduces save-states into any aspect of playing this game, I get a queasy feeling.
Thanks for the PM!
