Its all a matter of execution I suppose. I do like customization, but I dislike excessive management, as they are very different factors.
Said excessive management is what kept me from games like Spectral Force Genesis for instance. On the other hand I felt games like
Infinite Space have a good blend of it, and I'm enjoying it quite throughly now that I made it work.

I don't think Dark Wizard has excessive management, nor Brigandine which is an awesome game.

And, I started playing Magna Carta: Tears of Blood for PS2.
I loved everything about this game, except the battle system. It seems kind of like Thousand Arms, where you only use one of the characters, most of the time.

And I'm still playing Dark Wizard, just killed Aqua:

I never said Dark Wizard has management problems ^.^' its just the battle scenes take too long to load.
As for Brigandine I don't really like all the trouble you have to go through just to dispatch your troops
and I don't like hex grids, yep, call me picky.

Currently playing Dragon Quest 9. The actual main quest was disappointingly short but the treasure map system, alchemy and numerous side quests make this a game where it is easy to go over 100 hours. I'm already in the post-game and I will probably be going to one of those DQ mall events to trade for some really good maps and to open up all the other rooms in the inn. Apparently if you get 30 guests in your inn it opens up all kinds of things and its probably the only way I can do it since there are not as many DQ players in the US compared to Japan.

DQ 9 wasn't bad but I'm looking forward the DQ6 remake a lot more honestly.

I finally got back into gaming! Currently playing Baten Kaitos 2... I'm not sure why I started with the prequel... I heard that it was a bit better, so I thought I'd better try it out first so that I ease back into my games without getting frustrated.

I really love Monolith Soft... I wish that they would get more credit.

A lot of good, albeit obscure companies tend to fly under the radar or sink without garnering much mass attention sadly
(although they tend to amass a cult following all the same).
A rather recent example would be Cing, whcih filed for bankruptcy a few months back, sad really as they are responsible for
DS games such as Hotel Dusk and Trace Memory. The DS is a good platform for visual novels, but a lot of developers overlook that
in favor of more marketable shovelware, and bold, creative people like the Cing employees end up getting the boot.

I've been replaying Front Mission: Gun Hazard lately! I'm getting pretty close to the end. Finished up Esporte last night and got the last carrier so I can hit the Society where it hurts; goddamn though, Via Blanca is terrible speck on an otherwise great game.

I really like Monolift too. I finished the first Baten Kaitos game and really enjoyed it except for the most horrendous voice acting I have ever heard. It sounded like the microphone that the actors spoke into was messed up. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed that Xenoblade which was also made by Monolift will make it over here. I bought a Wii during the last days of the Bing cashback program and I'm planning on playing some of the upcoming RPGs on Wii like Xenoblade, Last Story and DQ10.
