Would like some input here. We ran into this long English world thing in SSMS-II (not sure how we'll handle it yet) for elemental weaknesses. The Japanese need a Kanji or two. We have names as long as "Thunder". You get some enemy with weaknesses to everything, and you run off the screen.
I wish we could use icons, but... Okay, we can make them: F, L, E, T, B, W, etc. or Fi, Li, Ea, Th, Ba, Wi. That's about the only games in town with no extra line available.
I agree with Maeson on this one. First two letters would work well. At a glance I knew what they were instantly. Icons would be ideal, but the first two letters would be sufficient.

One HP left
Does this work?
I could never kill those metal monsters.
That's perfect. I can think of nothing better, given the space restriction.
Steel Worms go down fast with Ice Kiss. Assuming they didn't flee. And Killa's first spell may do 0 damage, but so far has been 100% accurate at causing stun. And it doesn't seem to EVER run out. You can hit 1s and 2s all day until they are dead. There's also a thrown item that causes instant death that seems to work 100% of the time. Although I didn't have very many of them, so that's not a reliable hypothesis.
As for Pugs, I don't remember what these things were called that I fought (Pug-like), but they seemed to be shouting numbers or letters. Sometimes two letter words like "ki" or something. It was really strange. I'll have to find that island again and pay closer attention.
