Announcement: Recca Joins D-D Core Group as Seventh Member!
|
Recca has been around a long time. As a result of his hard work testing several released patches and his critical support to the nearly
finished Burning Heroes English patch, the current active six members of D-D unanimously extended the invitation. Recca brings a
number of skills to the table. Foremost, he loves classic RPGs and has worked hard to help mold our patches into even higher states of
perfection. Second, his developing Japanese translation skills were most helpful in Burning Heroes. Third, he is an expert Romanian
translator who is exploring the idea of producing versions of some of our previously released D-D patches in that language.
Soon, we will be building a project page for a Romanian version of a very popular Square Soft SNES RPG. Recca needs to
add just a few more fininshing touches to his patch prior to releasing a Romanian product. The core membership is pleased to
welcome someone of Recca's caliber and talents, one who is dedicated to producing top quality English patches as well. Although the rest
of us aren't Romanian speakers, we are confident Recca's ports will be welcomed by game lovers who are fluent in that language.
Additionally, Recca will be the project coordinator for the SFC RPG Record of Lodoss War. Our finished English patch will be
dedicated to the late Lina` Chan of LNF Translations. Tragically, she died in a car accident during the production of the already released but
incomplete work.
Speaking of expanding our patch offerings into Romanian, Portuguese, French, and other Western languages, we need someone to help us design
and add about 20 font characters to the graphics of our insertion architectures. With access to alphabets that include letters with diacritical markings,
our international translators will produce stories with enchanced clarities of meaning. If someone out there possesses these graphic skills and knows
the ins-and-outs of international keyboard support, please contact us at any of our project forums.
Finally, Burning Heroes and Silva Saga-II are both in the late stages of testing. English patches for these games will be released
sometime in early 2012.

A Request for Outside Assistance GB Shin SD Gundam Gaiden: Knight Gundam Monogatari (1994), Script Dump Wanted
|
Ritchie has requested a script dump for the Gameboy RPG Shin SD Gundam Gaiden: Knight Gundam Monogatari. At the present time, we have no assembly specialists
in our group who are experienced working with Gameboy code. Nevertheless, we are determined to help Ritchie obtain a script dump of this game.
We know someone is out there in the world who has translated Gameboy RPGs. That person is probably familiar with the many RPG walkthroughs that Ritchie
has written and shared with hard-core JRPG gamers. Also, we are entering the late stages of producing an English patch for SFC Burning Heroes.
Ritchie has contributed countless translation hours toward our efforts to share an English version of this amazing game with the whole world!
Please, someone in the translation community, help us do something much deserved, for Ritchie. The core membership here at D-D will
certainly assist with the "grunt" work in every way possible. You may contact us via our forum or Ritchie directly. His e-mail address is posted in the
walkthrough for this very game and numerous others! Thank you!

Good News Part 3, Everyone! Princess Minerva orders us to get cracking on her game!
|
SFC Princess Minerva has now moved into the early stages of story writing and production. The inserter system for the game's text
is working well, although we still have plenty of hurdles to jump with menus and such. We are working up the intro now (which Wildbill will
tell you is quite long (his exact words were marathon intro)) and hope to have a nice preview video up on YouTube sometime this weekend or early next week
for your viewing pleasure.
Special thanks goes to Bongo` for delaying a bit of work on other projects that were decidedly further along, so that he could get
the inserter for this project squared away enough to get production underway. Special thanks also goes to Eien Ni Hen for delivering a script of exceptional
quality for us to work with.
I'd also like to announce at this time that this game will be dedicated to Bo Bankson (Postman77), a good friend of mine and friend
of the translation community who passed away back in 2002. Bo was a man with many life long health issues but he never let that keep him down. He'd rather help
someone else out with something he could do than feel sorry for himself for something he couldn't. He was never part of any actual groups or projects, but had
helped out various people with graphics, web design and hosting. This included hosting our old translation sites when Dragonfire closed. Bo became a good personal
friend of mine even outside of the translation community. I've wanted to dedicate a game to him for a while, and with his love of anime and old RPG's, Princess
Minerva seems like the perfect choice with the anime ties-in, ect. We miss you, Bo! Thanks for all of the help, cheering on, and memories.
Here is a gif animation of
early production work from the initial intro (before you press start) of Princess Minerva. We can't take credit for the character portraits. Those were
already done in English. However, since they are part of the overall initial pre-start intro, I decided to include those screens for you to take a gander at.
Oh, and before you ask, "Is that really the intro or just a joke?", yes, that really is the intro. If you'd ever watched the Minerva anime, you'd know what kind
of a person Minerva is, and that this is just the type of thing she'd do on a whim. Look forward to plenty more of Minerva's random fiascos as you play the game :D
The project page has also been updated with current team members. Thought I had done it already, Eien. Sorry it took this long to get you added.

SFC Aretha (I) Launches!
|
After considerable background efforts constructing the Kanji table and such, Aretha is off the ground and running.
Bongo` has dumped the script and misc blocks, Wildbill has done a few spot translations and tested them with Bongo`'s rudimentary
insertion system, and the block files have been forwarded to Filler for eventual translation.
In style, this game appears very similar to Aretha-II, a project that is fully translated and well underway.

SFC Silva Saga-II Moves to Front Burner! (V0.17 Beta)
|
Steady labors have been proceeding behind the scenes. In February 2011, we were moving at a snail's pace, although we possessed a rough-translated script
approximately 75% completed. Enter translator Shiva Indis! He not only knocked out the huge remaining portion, he smoothed off the rough edges of some of
the previous efforts by Wildbill and double-checked anything needing attention from Akujin's work almost a decade ago. Today, the hundreds of script blocks
and all of the miscellaneous blocks are virtually completed. Meanwhile Draken has devoted a good deal of time editing and formatting the story of this
sprawling saga.
With most of the menus fine-tuned by Bongo` as of last winter, production is set to take off. Wildbill is polishing the story, Garrett is writing lyrics and rhyme
for at least some of the bards' songs and poetry, and Red Soul is gearing up to resume preliminary beta testing. The game contains 54 chapters, some of
which include necessary re-visits to previously entered locations. As for our timing schedule to full beta testing, some of the large towns will require days
to write and polish, while lesser dialogue-intensive environments and places without side-quests may command only an hour or two. Therefore, progress may be
uneven at times, based upon the size and complexity of the chapter, but everything should even out in the long run.
D-D wants to thank Aishsha, Shiva, and Garrett for their major contributions to this emerging patch. As for Shiva... Well, naturally, we're hoping you'll
stay in contact and consider working with us again. Meanwhile, thank you for stepping in and tossing a life ring around this project!

Good News Part 2, Everyone! Princess Minerva's script insertion system complete!
|
Thanks to hard work by Bongo`, the Princess Minerva insertion system is now operational. We can now give you screenshots with real in game text. The system still has some kinks to be worked out here and there but this is a big milestone that will lead to this project getting into high gear soon. Take a gander at a couple real in game text screenshots to wet your appetite. Thanks again Eien Ni Hen for this excellent translation.

SFC Aretha-II Story Writing Well Underway (V0.12 Beta)
|
This work should proceed at a steady pace. The game engine appears stable and is formatted and written from the lengthy prologue through the second
village, producing a V0.12 beta. This means five of approximately forty scenarios are written and semi-polished. Not that Filler needs to rush into
the Aretha (I) script, I'm sure he'll be happy to learn that production has begun and is moving right along.
From the action thus far, I sense this story is likely a direct sequel to
Aretha-I, I have learned what happened to the two characters on the mountain top in the prologue, and I fully understand our heroes' task in the
quest. It seems Demon King Akin is on the loose. This fiend must be stopped at all costs before he destroys two worlds!
Ariel is just the person for the job, and she is definitely my kinda woman - armed and dangerous!!
I (Wildbill) have returned to full duty and will be writing Chaos Seed, Burning Heroes, and Aretha-II concurrently - with most of my
time being devoted to Chaos Seed.
