Some thoughts about items...
Here's a few bits about the ending scene:
Is the puzzle this one? Wait until ya get to later dungeons, where you'll face 16x16 versions of this joy

The only escape item is 'Taxi Ticket' (lol, right) you'll get a few complimentary ones during the story later, and can buy them from Luoyang's gambling den when you have access to it.
EDIT: In the next mountain, there's a few more. Two or three appear to be selected at random for you. The first column is how to solve them going up the mountain, the 2nd column as you solve the same floors going down:
Hmm, I can't seem to paste the image... it says board attachment quota has been reached
A current revised restorative item list for your review:
As for the puzzle floor, that's the one, but my guy is locked on the Earth Kanji, How do I transfer him to the People Kanji?
I'm pecking away at getting back to Daliang and "re-everythinging" what I had already done, except re-formating for the final font. That's useful. On my second pass from the beginning I'll have much fewer delays fiddling with details. I'm at the boat landing in southwestern Yan, about to return to Luoyang.
Here's a question... All those swap-shop items... (Dried Plums - Shiitake - Wool Pants) What do I swap the pants for in Ji, the Fishing Rod or the あみ, whatever that is? The previous translator came up with "Net". I come up with a "Shrimp". A Japanese walk-through translation calls it a "Hairo" (Japanese overcoat). Where does this swap drill end? Is it just a convoluted side quest where maybe the final swap is something really worthwhile, such as the game's best weapon for someone? That would be worth it!
Thanks again for all your assistance!
