Post subject:  BTS - Battle Talk System

SO! i was reading through some japanese sites and found out that the Battle Talking between characters whilst IN battle
actually gives stat bonuses in battle... :O can anyone confirm this to be true? This game's capability to STILL shock me
with built-in extra's is just KO'ing me :O ... What the site says..

# Defense force is 50 percent up
 Zarudon → Maggie
  "Do not overdo it because it is another year."

Heh, blows me away, if true. None of us ever discovered it prior to release. I triggered one battle message by mistake and could never repeat it - probably because I was tired, nodding off, and hit the "wrong" button!!

I discovered the party talking on my first play through of your english release patch, even before i started the sanctuary, just didn't think much of it, or how it'd be used in game other than just something different in battle, I had noticed tho that you didn't hit party members that i though was strange. I didn't report it cos i just thought it was a normal part of the game and what remarks i had gotten by doing it WERE in English with no faults so i just gathered you guys already knew about it, hence why it was already translated.. BUT oh well! you know now.. and if my 1st post IS true information.. all i can say is WOW!

We always dump the entire scrip and lists in a game, and we translate and insert everything back in - in English. But we always insert material back in that we never see in the game. Both Lennus-II and Mystic Ark may have secrets no one has found in English. Other explanations are that we always insert back in what we know is debugging and specially accessed programmer modules. Some of these allow you to walk through walls and such sometimes.

I can confirm that with some conversations you actually see the "Lk^" o "DF^" icons, as if you had use a buffing spell.

But I didn't know if that's just for show, or does something in reality. I noticed it while writing things down, but I didn't want to test another thing while doing something else...


So that's why I checked. It seems that...


...They actually work. The defense one seems to work only when you have armor equipped, as without armor enemies always damaged McGee with similar numbers. The attack one also works, Babu went from ~115 damage to ~151.

Just another thing to add to the pile of features that make this game feel so freakkin' big.

WOOOT! thanks for confirming this info/extra battle thing Maeson.. :) another thing to add into the sanctuary now. NOW! i will need to get a definitive chat
list together with each person and see what talks does in battle with each person talking to each person.. :/
