Oh, regarding save states. I haven't had a problem in the original and in original patches with using bsnes .55 and .72. I originally used .55 to do my playthrough. The save game from there also works on the DD patched rom (with a few hardcoded naming exceptions). I assume that higan or whatever works similarly, but I can't get higan to compile correctly and actually work.

Save state bugginess might be an issue with the emulator. Save states also work perfectly on SSMS-II and bsnes .72 including re-visiting those time shrines.

Awesome!!!!! You guys rock!

I thought you would get a kick out of this: Your hard work played on my 8 inch tablet. The pics are not great, as my phone (which I used to take the pics of my tablet playing your game) does not take good pics, but you can see your game in yet another way, in all its glory!

I beat the game today. Gets a little tedious at the end but love the dynamic designs inclusion when entering the spell at the alter.

Keep up the good work folks!

Really, you guys rock!

Just finished the game from one of my saves, finally... Thanks for everything. :-)

The ending score and credits were well done. Thank you.

Gerb, I am so happy you dropped by a while back to check on this game and even more pleased to have you as a partner on SSMS-II. As part of that team, you have saved the game from my clumsy translations, and together we'll all put together one heck of a sequel! More later...

Edit: Wanted to add that each of the 12 fighters has a unique ending roll, and some have an alternative ending role, depending on whether you completed a given character's sided quest. It took me a long time to find what I hope are all of the side-quests and try to manipulate endings so I could I could see and polish all of them. I'm still not sure if I did, but I saw both of Garou's and the prince's endings, for sure.

What you see in the endings also depends on who was in the party at the time you won the final battle.

Glad you enjoyed it. Last year I played it on my Win8 phone. I would lie in bed, find a needed fix, run upstairs to my study, crank it in on a desktop, upload the new SMC to the cloud, head back to bed, over-write my SMC from the cloud, back up to an earlier save, and check my fix. Finally, I got a tablet with a dock and a USB, and I plugged in a Buffalo gamepad and set the whole thing on the nightstand so I wouldn't need to run upstairs in the middle of the night anymore!

By the way; I have one question, although this one doesn't have anything to do about the translation:

Spoiler! :
Now i'm looking for the four dragons to help me. I went to fight the volcano where is located the Land Dragon. I didn't have that much trouble with the enemies there, but the Land Dragon itself walls me like nothing.

I just hit it for 1-5 points of damage at levels 44-42, and while I know it's weak to water, I didn't levelp up the characters that have water magic that much (As I read at the beginning, the game was tested with those characters, so i decided to use the others to check things) the only thing I can do is critcal hits and Water Weel from Poyon.

Is there any tip for it? I really feel stupid for asking but I didn't expect such a brick wall on an important fight like this.
Just found this question. If you haven't solved this extra tough foe yet, I'll check all my notes and see if I have any better answers tomorrow. I seem to recall needing to grind levels, healing constantly with advanced spells cast by certain members, using doubling attack methods on the strongest hitters, and casting defense reducing techniques against the dragon.

After a few tries, I went to the Aqua Dragon which I managed to defeat and learn a new water spell for Poyon.

I didn't try lowering his defense, as most of the times these spells don't work on bosses in RPG's. in fact a lot of games won't even let you inflict status like poison, so I just ignore them most of the times...

Thank you for the advice!

SSMS-II has gone a lot more smoothly getting to a V0.88 alpha than this game did. I've had no problems working from save-states either.

When I finally get back to work on #2, I need to finish everything except the time temple related sub-quests first. As soon as I can resume, my first order of business will be to complete my grubbing around in those deep sea trenches and discovering all of their secrets.

Then, I'll start a brand new game from the very beginning and key in on the time temples. Once everything is translated and rough-inserted, I'm hoping some error statements that I'm currently getting in most of the temples and wells will go away. If they don't, we may need a bit more assembly work on this feature. I am confident we'll be able to put together a good build for release. Looking at my schedule, about a year from now seems a workable calendar for me to get SSMS-II to beta.

Cool to hear that SSMS II is going smooth! I'm really curious about it, seeing how great this one is turning.

Anyway, I've been advancing in SSMS I (exploring is fun but sometimes I need plot), and I wanted to report a weird bug i just encountered:

I was in the jungle that's located near the Chameleon Village. After doing the bug quest and gaining access to that new area, I was fighting to see what kind of weird enemies were there, and one of them has glitched skill:

Thing is, it actually glitches the fight itself!

I was able to run like a coward and save. Then I tried to replicate it on Snes9x 1.43. Here's a save-state for the exact moment the enemy is using that skill if you need it.

Aiiieeee...!!!

But I think I know what caused this... It may have been all of the blank spaces after "Murdering Swallowtail" and this: "; 殺人アゲハ" in the insertion file.
This is one of the four newly dumped and added battle messages.

Try this hotifix and see if it works!
