I wonder if Bongo` remembers helping me out on the 8x16 font for this one, back in... '02-ish?

Nope, this is Super Nazo Puyo Tsuu/2 (we're calling it 'Super Puzzle Puyo, Too!') Script is translated, 50% edited. It's pretty small, only about 4800 lines/80KB. Title screen, menus, and "battle" interface are as-yet untouched but shouldn't be hard.

I've already finished Hanamaru Daiyouchi Enji - finished that one off years ago. Check out "Madou Monogatari: BIG Kindergarten Kids" at ye olde web site for the patch.

Looking good Gid! I'm glad one of us is pulling a late nighter... I wish I could find your drive... I've been waiting for it to come back for quite some time now :(

I'm not sure about that font, though. The 'y' looks a little 'cut off' towards the end. Also, there are a few places where the letters look too close together (especially in some places with 'n' or 'm'). Not to complain, though. Progress is always a good thing :D

It's less about drive and more about not going to bed. The sooner I have to go to bed, the sooner I have to wake up for work :(

Congrats on getting another Puyo game out the door!

EDIT: Wow, way to skim the thread. I saw a post on RHDN and then this one here and assumed it was released. AAAnyway...glad to see you dusted this one off. I'll be looking forward to more news as it develops.

Dude, I do not remember anything from this game. Did I do the font you say? was it using asm source files or was it just a straight HACK of the hex code? I did hex code hacking a lot back then.

That Bongo` is still such a whiz coding ASM font routines, I'm betting he will yet devise a way to steal eight pixels per line for the Burning Heroes dialogue (Or is it four pixels we need to even out?) so we can gain back half of a CPL for a typical 8X16 character! (or it it a 16X16 char?) Anyway, Bongo` knows what I'm wolfing about here! The last char on a BH line that should have space to display but really doesn't causes the first char on the following line to bleed backwards and "ghost" the margin of everything that follows, even scrolls-down. The Japanese font designer in BH really hosed the CPL that is provided by our usual vwf routine!

Anyway Puzzle Puyo looks very clean, Gid, and it is a very nice-looking font!

Pretty sure it was just a straight hex hack, but honestly I don't remember either, ahahahahah. God that was a long time ago.
