Dragon Squadron: Danzarb aka Ryuukiheidan Danzarb released around the middle of the snes life (but heading towards the end) in late April of 1993. I had never heard of this game until recent. I looked at some pics and it looked rather unappealing. But a week ago I tried actually playing it and despite a battle system that felt a tad bit clunky, it turned out to be a very good game, story wise. Character development and plot twists are top notch and feel like they are ahead of its time, maybe psx era. It actually tugs at the heart as you pass the halfway point and I found the lead character Matthew, to be a likable kid. The game also has very catchy music. My only complaint is to make the robots a little different from each other. You get five by games end, but the other four all feel like clones of the first robot, the red one. It would have been cool to have some robot specific special attacks or unique skills. However, customization is very interesting in this game and allows for quite a bit of freedom, making the robots at least slightly diverse (a little). The game also has occasional puzzles which can be slightly annoying, but are a cool twist none the less. Overall, the game strikes me as a Xenogears/Dragon Quest/Phantasy Star hybrid. It is very neat, takes place in the future and you get to control both playable people and robots. I would highly recommend you track this game down and give it a good honest try. |

I guess I just might, eventually. You sure gave it an useful review, thanks. Although I'd rather see Metal Max 2 done and play that instead. |

Reading the original post, I might try Danzarb sometime. I think I looked at it for about half an hour but it didn't seem too appealing. As for Metal Max 2, its very exciting to hear the translation is far along. I would love to play that game some time, I really enjoyed Metal Max Returns and Metal Saga. Is it mostly hacking issues that are obstacles for Metal Max 2? |

The thing about this game is, it has 1 or 2 very good songs. Usually the song playing n between chapters is great and one of the overworld songs is very catchy. Sadly I can not find that track. Here is another one that is pretty good though: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EOS9HeC5SO8 |

You could always look for the SPC package for it, I suppose. That way you could always listen to your favorite SNES songs for that game (and a lot others for that matter). |
