First of all, let me say thanks to everyone involved with this project. I know translating a ROM is no small feat and to do it for no reward other than the approval of fans is even more admirable. So kudos to translating Slayers, gentlemen! That said, I'm having a bit of trouble getting started. According to the Readme file, I have the proper sized ROM (it's 1537 Kilobits unzipped), and I have the patch. When I patch the ROM, it expands to 2 meg, just like the Readme explains. But when I attempt to run the English ROM under an emulator, it says it's a bad ROM. I've tried all of the emulators-- BSNES, SNES9X, ZSNES, etc.--and they all refuse to load the ROM. I know it isn't the emulators, because when I run the Japanese version, it runs fine. I've patched plenty of translations into ROMS before, and never had this problem. I've tried using Lunar.ips and SNESTL12, and I still get the same result. Do I just have a bad ROM, or what? And if so, where can I find a working one? And this soft patching that's explained in the Patching for dummies file, how does that work? Thank you all so much for your time. I hate to be a bother, but I am not very tech savvy and would love to play this game, as I have adored the series for several years now. Thanks again! |

Hi, try what Red Soul suggested on this other thread: viewtopic.php?f=26&t=128 Or, my suggestions immediately after his ![]() |

Soft patching is when the game and patch file have the same name (don't change the extentions though). Keep them in the same folder and open the game either with Zsnes or Snes9x and it will auto patch it for you. Hard patching is when the permanently patch the game using a utility such as snestool or lunarips. For more info on patching, I recommend you read this: http://www.fantasyanime.com/patching.htm Edit: For some games, you'll have to either remove or add a header using snestool or any other program that can before you apply the patch. It states it in the readme text file. |

Hello Gourry, please don't believe you'd ever be a bother, we are here to help and hope you'll enjoy our release. Now, as for your question, soft patching is about matching the file names. e.g: If you name your ROM as Slayers_English, the patch file name should also be Slayers_English. they should also be in the same directory for the emulator to recognize them, and the emulator you use must support the feature as well as it being enabled. Edit: Haha seems you beat me to it Recca. Thanks for assisting. |

Thank, guys! Removing the header with SNESTL worked! The game is fantastic! By the way, your timing was simply impeccable--Slayers Revolution, the first season of the show in 10 years, was released in English the same week this patch was! |

Hi. I got lucky that when I happened to search for a Slayers ROM about 3 months ago I found out about this translation sight. I downloaded the patch and I have had (I'm almost certain) the same problem that the previous poster had. I've attempted to download ucon64 and snestl to remove a header, but both of those have not worked sucessfully. The snestl won't work because I have a 64 bit computer, and the ucon64 won't work because... I don't know, to be honest. I've been trying to chech the FAQ to install it, but I'm afraid I'm not too good with these sorts of things. Thank you to the staff, and thank you to everyone for any possible help you may be able to give me. |

I guess I should also say that I've always used a ZSNES emulator system, and I know that there is a header because I ran a scan on the rom one time and it appeared. Thanks |

What OS are you using? I would suggest you use NSRT for Snes rom operation since it has cross platform versions. Please report back so we can continue to aid you. |
