Just to give a little update... I'm now very comfortable working with the scripts without having to test/play at the same time. This is allowing me to go A LOT quicker through everything. I would estimate that I am 70% done with formatting and my first edits. I still plan on going back and playing through each scenario to make my (hopefully) final edit to the dialog scripts. There is a lot of tone and attitude that I want to keep with the main character, so I have to tweak many little snippets of the script.
Progress is continuing at a good pace, though. I've been spending a good 2~3 hours each day working on it, so rest assured that this puppy will see the light of day
Sounds like you're "into a good zone" with that pace. I find that devoting a steady input five or six days a week builds those version percentage numbers rapidly. A day or two off here and there refreshes a writer. I will also take breaks and play a bit of a commercial release, comparing my style to that of someone who has been paid to do this. More often than not, this comparison inspires me to handle a similar situation differently, rather than imitate the paid professional. My greatest fear is that I will slip into a "formula" writing style and start pumping out "pulp" scripts!
I still need to get you a tutorial of info to make main page updates. CuteFTP works best for me because of the way the update section allows me to easily copy and paste a template from a previous entry. Much of the code is grayed-out, so I can just delete or type over the darker story portion of the template's text. Another option enables me to see what the new story will look like in the browser (but without the graphics, which I don't need to see anyway). The golden rule of making a main page news update is to save the existing SHTML file very first thing. No problem remembering to do this with your initial update.
