Dann paid his way in one of my playthroughs. I decided that for Naga I would have a party dedicated to magic. Naga, Dann, Stacia, Rafe, and Lisa. Dann's petrifying magic saved my ass end-game. In most playthroughs, however, my end-game Rafe has a Royal Crown, Royal Cape, Royal Ring, and a Burning Rod, and his Fire Dragon spell typically wipes out every end-game random encounter as the first action on the first round in each combat.

Definitely have to agree to the usefulness of Lisa as a healer. I didn't use her for my first character but did for my second and I'm glad I have her. She doesn't waste her MP haphazardly like some other characters.

Indeed, so long you supplement Lisa's healing with vitamins when fighting some major bosses, you pretty much don't have to worry about dying; that and your mages can focus on the offense instead of wasting turns healing.

Once you can buy Moon Tiaras and Emerald Robes equip everyone in your party with them (and their logical advancements), as they boost Magic enough to really take a lot of the oomph out of boss' spell attacks. If you really want to tear the game up at the end, fight random battles around the lower telepod in the Demon Tower, as Burning Helms, Armor, Knives, Souls, Rods, Bows, Royal Rings, and Royal Capes are dropped by enemies. You can get Burning Plate (useless) from enemies jsut outside the tower. I am sure there are more items dropped, but I have not had such happen.

There are TONS of great "Burning" drops from enemies in the final dungeon/castle. ;)

Too bad the final boss is easy with or without the best gear. I guess if you want to add insult to injury.

Main stay/must have: Lisa, why? Her healing spells are very important.

Attack team: Any combination of Rock, Barbara, Vada &/or Kidd.

I rarely get/use the Mages except for Lisa who is a must.

Gucci? He's okay I guess but his HP doesn't max out to 999 at max level.

I think rangers in general are a very poor choice, I'd use Fighters/Brawlers on their place any day.
As for mages, I find them especially useful for clearing the screen with some of their best spells, plus
the elemental dragons do quite a number on Deathwise.
