I did some thinkering on the BH ROM out of curiosity and managed to change something that had been bugging me for a while - the fact that the header information comes out as gibberish in emulators that display it.
Anyhow, seeing as how the patch has come a long way and I happen to like the game quite a lot, I felt I wanted to give the header a more authentic content, so to speak, so I dug out information about snes rom structures and such.
Its a mostly cosmetic modification, to be sure, but I feel it deserves to be in the final version of the patch.

The internal name has to be exactly 21 bytes long and what I had in mind for display fit perfectly, you guys should let me know if you'd rather have something different show. I've appended an image to show what I mean, notice the topmost window section of the emulator, displaying the internal name of the loaded ROM.

What you have is fine by me. Now, we need to patch it into the working ROM during the batch job recompilation process. In Lennus-II we added an IPS directory to the file structure for several changes and hardwired these functions into the insertion program, but Bongo` used a more elegant method for renaming a header in a more recent project. We should do this in all our works.

BTW, I should get you those promised materials later today. I've been surging in Chaos Seed Scenario #2 for three straight days - about 25 hours of additional work in this time span. I'm done with that now and need time today to organize both games administratively so I can pass everything on to all concerned. This means I'm either caught up or stymied in all three games I'm working on: (Heh, I'm no longer the logjam - first time since Christmas!)

1. Chaos Seed - V0.27 beta caught up (finished Scenario #2 polish and spot string rewrites for clarity of meaning - all three endings + sidequest)
2. Burning Heroes - V0.66 beta (without full menu support yet) caught up with Ritchie's block submissions
3. Aretha-II - V0.18 beta stymied by the Akin Bug hard crash at Seckt Castle visit #1 (two-line item function also broken when called in dialogue screens - other minor bugs)

I'm glad it was an agreeable thinkering on my part ^.^
Seeing as I'm pretty much done with issue hunting with BH, I guess I'll resume CS manual work since Eien has kindly sent quite a bit more translated material.

If can catch my breath after doing outdoor work in the heat all day, I'll update the whole CS team tonight with the V0.27 beta. Of course, Draken and the testers need to go over Scenario #2 with a fine-toothed comb. That one had more variations than the first two scenarios combined (including the Lecture Scenario and #1). And, Scenario #2 had multiple ways to get to the three different endings.

Spoiler! :
I like the loooong ending in which you go to the town and have the side quest with the girlfriend you never knew, then you have the fight with the Head Priest, rescue the egg, take it back to the cave, and hatch the baby dragon!
For me, the difference in the shortest ending to Scenario #2 and the longest ending is about 30 hours of additional work over four days!

I am fixing to pass CS Scenario #3 back to Drakee, and I am out of work now, with Aretha-II broken and BH caught up (except for 30 more of your beta report items). In the meantime, Eien and you will need to switch to coordinating with Draken on further refinement of the CS manual.

Ritchie recently sent me new translations for four fairly long blocks in World-II:

Block 022 - Sky Castle - Gaou and Chocolate/Naga and Mevius - World-II
Block 027 - Blue Road - Ryuu & Rouga & Laila & Shen - World-II
Block 031 - Rock Fort - Ryuu & Rouga & Laila & Shen - World-II
Block 032 - Waterfall Mountain Path - Ryuu & Rouga & Laila & Shen - World-II

Only five blocks remain to be translated in World-II, then onward to the 21 remaining blocks in World-III, many of which are rather small (11 are less than 5.0 Kb).

I am polishing Block 022 right now - about mid point. The Sky Castle chapter reveals the answers to many mysteries.

The insertion of all four new blocks will bring the project to a V0.70 Alpha (60 of 86 blocks translated and/or polished).

Once I polish the four new files, requiring maybe two weeks, we will have a V0.70 Beta, and I will update Recca and Red Soul for beta testing purposes.

The game still needs a multitude of menu refinements, but I'm seeing a light at the end of the tunnel. As this game approaches three-fours completion, we have about a half million bytes available. Most of the dialogue is polished to near-release standards. A lengthy beta testing period shouldn't be required - just time for Draken and anyone else on the team who desires to play all eight scenarios and tender the final refinements.

Boom! A week later, we have a V0.72 Alpha. Ritchie just sent Block 25 (Floating Road) and Block 29 (Ruins Village), both in World-II.

With this addition, four of the eight heroes may be played all the way from the beginning to the Ruins Underground Shrine on Forgotten Island, the gateway to World-III.

As a correction to my previous post, here is the disposition of blocks I have not received (Check the bottom for a big surprise!):

World-I (finished)

World-II

Block 026 - Devil's Road
Block 030 - Ruins - Buried Shrine
Block 034 - Dark Tower
Block 059 - Star Key
Block 060 - Star Key
Block 061 - Star Key
Block 062 - Star Key

World-III

Block 036 - Demon's Sky Tower
Block 037 - Left Saira(?)
Block 038 - Right Will(?)
Block 039 - Cosmion
Block 045 - Fourth Dungeon
Block 046 - Fourth Town
Block 047 - Second Dungeon
Block 048 - Second Town
Block 049 - Third Dungeon
Block 050 - Third Town
Block 051 - First Dungeon
Block 052 - First Town
Block 058 - Star Door Underground Shrine
Block 063 - Cosmion Teleporter
Block 064 - Cosmion Teleporter
Block 065 - Cosmion Teleporter
Block 066 - Cosmion Teleporter

Ritchie has informed me that he has completed translations for the following blocks in World-III I just haven't received them and inserted them yet.

Block 036 - Demon's Sky Tower (World-III)
Block 037 - Left Saira(?)
Block 038 - Right Will(?)
Block 045 - Fourth Dungeon
Block 046 - Fourth Town
Block 047 - Second Dungeon
Block 048 - Second Town
Block 049 - Third Dungeon
Block 050 - Third Town
Block 051 - First Dungeon
Block 052 - First Town

Ritchie did not mention the status of Block 058 (Star Door Temple)

What this means is that BH is much closer to being fully translated than any of us realized!

As always, on behalf of the rest of the team, I send out a big thanks to Ritchie!
