I worked a bit more on this script tonight. Including the work that was already done on this script, and based ONLY off the number of blocks NOT the size of the blocks, the first draft is somewhere around 37% complete.

Having a sleepless night tonight for a variety of reasons, I have diverted my thoughts by working on Slayers. I have rolled back the Dec 7 updates so conversations in Crimson Town won't lock, and I have incorporated all of your suggestions in that city, as well as the Shouji Forest. The story is even better now. I appreciate the positive and upbeat manner in which you have expressed your ideas and suggestions, the essence of good teamwork and brainstorming! You are fun to work with in this collaborative effort, and Red Soul is starting to help me tie up some of the technical details, too.

I used the "IT'S A Trap!" line because it's perfect for that scene. Now, I want to go back and work in Naga's gargantuan melons in some way, in reference to the nesting slimes!! That is an absolute riot, but applicability to the storyline might be a stretch, unless maybe I can use it in the Goblin Pit early on where her lewd consume creeps out Lina and Claire. The graphic that flashes up makes it appear as if Lina and Claire are actually puking!

Anyway, if you like Aretha-II, I'm going to try to talk you and Bongo` into Aretha-I... I'm getting hooked on these chick-RPGs! I had no idea so many of them existed.

That's exciting news about Aretha-II progress. Bongo` was really bummed about its relative stagnation a few months ago, but Rome wasn't built in a day, neh?

Sorry to hear about the sleepless night. Sometimes I'll just end up staying up all night because I'm occupied with something interesting and working on a sleep surplus, but other times it's not so nice. I had stress induced insomnia for a while which was not fun. I hope it was closer to the former than the latter.

The changes look great. Thanks for implementing those so soon. :)

As for Aretha II, liking may be too strong a word, but I'm definitely not disliking it so far.

You started a thread about what RPGs you like the best in another section of the board and it made me think a little. I've played video games since I was about 4 years old, but my gaming history has been different from a lot of folks. As for RPGs I played the original Final Fantasy and Dragon Warrior on the NES when they were new, but I never really thought of myself as an RPG game player. I like the FF series and my fair share of RPGs, but one that really did catch my attention back in the day was Lunar. I had a Sega CD and I fondly remember playing Lunar to completion. I've actually never fired up Aretha II, so I watched a YouTube video of some game play on it the other night and it looks JUST like Lunar, to the point that I think it must have been developed by the same team. That is definitely a plus in my book.

Also the script hasn't exactly caught my attention yet, but it's been interesting enough that I don't dislike translating it. To put this into perspective I once agreed to take a stab at the script for Zoid Saga but while translating it, the Japanese dialog was so stock and lame that I just had to put it down. I couldn't do it. This game on the other hand has been interesting enough that I'm curious to translate more and that's a good sign. I'm hoping that I really get into it as I go, but for now I just want to see what happens next.

Thanks for your time and efforts. As for translation and interest, I always thought that
a game with decent gameplay nd a not so exciting story could be made exciting as far as story goes. Although we translate and hack a game, that does not mean it has to be done word for word.
I figured it was up to the writer(s) to spice it up to the point that it stays faithful but does add flavor. :)

If you like Lunar that much, there's a series of games for PC that has almost the same battle system as Lunar series, it's called "The Legend of Heroes" there are PSP versions too.

I don't recall the games battle system's being similar to Lunar's other than maybe Bandai butchering the PSP games and changing the battle system.

Memory can play tricks on you. I took a look at a youtube video of Silver Star Story and you are correct the battle system is nothing like it. The sprites are pretty similar but that's kind of like saying the sprites in Slayers are a lot like the ones in Final Fantasy. :P It reminds me of it anyway. Can't I reminisce about the old days without it being pointed out how faulty my memory is?

They look almost the same.

Remember, the PSX and Sega CD versions of Lunar have different battle systems. That was one of the gripes (or joys depending on your view) of the Remake.
