Welcome to the forums, Mad Monarch Dryst.
There are several reputable sites you could get your emulator from but
for the sake of ease, allow me to list some of the homepages of said emulators.
Your choice depends mostly on taste, but in some cases, the emulators
will demand some more processing power from your machine.
(those marked with (!)) but will provide more accurate emulation as a tradeback,
and generally a more faithful experience in regards to real hardware.

BSNES (!) http://byuu.org/bsnes/
Snes9X: http://www.snes9x.com/
SnesGT (!) http://gigo.retrogames.com/
Zsnes: http://www.zsnes.com/

As for the game itself, please consult me via PM.

I am in a very similar position as the above reader posted. Except I have even worse computer skills. His story is remarkably similar to my own except i'm slightly younger =). What do I need to do before i can load up this game? Any good ideas where to get a solid emulator then to download this game? I'm not a member of any real reliable forums to download something that is prolly safe, any suggestions? Much appreciation for any help!
Please report back to us when you are successfully playing the game. As Red Soul said, "Welcome," and have fun...!

All issues have been resolved, we have yet another quite elated person using our patch.
Seeing this kind of result really makes the effort worthwhile.

To expound on what Red Soul said, any newcomer is welcome here and will get assistance setting up to play our translations. No one should ever be hesitant to ask for help just because you're not a CS major!

I've just started on Mystic Ark, still on the first world. It's odd to see an RPG showing very strong elements similar to 7th Saga being dubbed as '7th Saga II' I think elements are directly related to the original game: the round crystal orb indicating enemies, towns, and such (though at this point it's odd I haven't seen a 0 icon indicating a town like in the original); as well as the menu system and combat.

In terms of combat the difficulty switch hasn't been turned into 'stupid hard' yet, I find it amazing that skeletons are not difficult in this game but oh MAN do I remember them in 7th Saga they were BRUTAL. Unless its one of those situations that people complained Devil May Cry was too difficult and Capcom toned it WAY down when they made its sequel. I can't think off the top of my head of an RPG that copied elements from it's original predessesor in a strong way but have no direct relationship storyline wise, although the "arks" remind me of "runes" but these are first impressions, being new to this fourm still I'm sure the developers are anxious for a new player to give his opinion on the title later down the road. As a new mind is just reaping with vast new knowledge and insights :D

Only thing I'm scared of is breaking a controller, as 7th Saga was no walk in the park!

Mystic Ark was the result of countless hours of work and dedication, and we
are very fond both of the game itself and the resulting patch.
We hope you will truly enjoy it.

As for 7th Saga, as you may or may not know, the overseas releases were made insanely hard
on purpose to give the game a "lasting feeling" since the SNES didn't have a lot to tout itself for
back then on the RPG departmet (at least not in a localized form).

Elnard, the original incarnation of the game is actually enjoyable thanks to being much more
manageable in all aspects. If you want to try that, there are patches that restore the original
difficulty to the english versions.

if by "lasting feeling" you mean 'I remember that game, it was so freaking hard' then yes yeah. Heck I don't recall the ending to that game being that grand either, I never finished it course that was back in the day when I use to rent video games as a kid.

Is Elnard a different version of the 7th Saga or Mystic Ark?

Ah, pardon me, I failed to be specific.
Elnard is what 7th Saga was called in Japan.
It had different, art and palettes (in some cases)
and much more manageable difficulty.

Mystic Ark has no relation to 7th Saga at all,
despite battle engine similarities. I guess
Enix just re-used the engine, to some extent.

Yeah they used it to a big extent so many similar elements so I can see how it can be dubbed 7th saga II. Thanks for the info Red Soul!

An easier 7th Saga ? I may have to check it out :D
